Affordable Cosmetic Dentistry - Medical Dental Tourism
With modern advancements in cosmetic dental care, you can have that beautiful smile of your dreams.
A cosmetic dentist can perform procedures such as teeth whitening, porcelain veneers – custom made moldings that cover the fronts of unsightly teeth, natural tooth colored fillings, and dental implants in order to dazzle your friends, co-workers and the opposite sex. Look good! Look more youthful. Get that Hollywood smile at an affordable price.
But alas, you say, I don’t have a Hollywood income to pay for cosmetic dentistry. Most cosmetic dentistry today in the United States costs as much as a new car, even more if you finance it. They usually want $5,000 up-front before they even begin.
What is a person to do? Consider your options. If you want to save fifty to seventy-five percent off the cost of your new smile, book a flight to any major city in Colombia: Medellin, Bogota, Cartagena, Cali, Cucuta, Barrangquilla or Bucaramanga. The dentists there are just as good and professional as they are in the US or Canada. Make some inquiries, get some estimates, shop around.
Some people believe that Colombia, like the Philippines, has too many schools of medicine and dental science. This means that dental and medical care in Colombia is very competitive.
There are 44 million people in Colombia. They have 24,000 dentists and 12,000 of them are in private practice. They don’t have the overhead, liability insurance expenses or the greed of North American dentists. Their professional credentials and training are just as good, and their fees are much less.
Medellin, Colombia, for example, has been transformed from the World’s Murder Capital to the World’s Beauty Capital, since the death of Pablo Escobar, almost 15 years ago. It is now one of the safest, most affordable cities in the world with a perfect year around climate and a beautiful new mass transit system (metro) helping to keep the mountain air clean. A city of 2.5 million people, Medellin is the fashion capital of Colombia and home to many textile factories, shops and malls. It is the new home for artists of all kinds.
Medellin has the most spectacular Christmas light display in the world called Los Alumbrados or Luces de Navidad. They even stage an international poetry festival in June and a magnificent flower festival in late July and early August.
The perfect climate helps create the perfect body. Where else in the world can you live where you don't even have to spend one centavo on heating or air conditioning?
People from all over Central and South America fly into Medellin everyday, many with plastic surgery or cosmetic dentistry on their agenda. Medellin is the home of three schools of medicine and Bogota has another eleven. The number of tourists to Colombia is beginning to double every year. Major hotel chains are salivating over plans to add new hotels to a number of Colombian cities and the cruise ship industry (Royal Caribbean) is already sending Love Boats to Cartagena.
Two recent, enormously popular Colombian soap operas have raised the level of discussion about beauty, ugliness and breast implants. It is one of the hottest topics of conversation between friends, family and co-workers. It helps women decide whether a boob job or liposuction is in their future.
The first soap opera about beauty appeared back in 1999 to 2001. It was called Yo soy Betty, la fea or Ugly Betty. It went on to inspire several international versions, including the one with America Ferrera in the U.S.
"Betty la fea," an ugly-duckling tale of a smart but unattractive young woman working in the fashion industry who blossoms with the help of true love and a skilled makeover artist, debuted in Colombia in 1999 and soon was the rage of the entire Spanish-speaking world -- including the United States, where it aired on Telemundo.
The second soap opera in 2006 was about breast implants. It is known as Sin Tetas No Hay Paraiso or Without Tits There Is No Paradise. The story is about a poor, flat-chested teenager who attempts to become a prostitute to afford a boob job, so she can find a rich gangsta boyfriend. The trouble is she can’t find any customers because all the other girls have bigger breasts. It is a Catch 22 type of situation that sort of reminds one of O. Henry’s The Gift of the Magi.
Forty new plastic surgery clinics have opened up nationwide in Colombia to help service almost half a million procedures a year. Nely Galan, formerly of Telemundo TV network observed that for Latinas "Cosmetic surgery is maintenance... If you painted your house seven years ago and the paint is chipping, would you not paint it again?"
